About
The Author
I’m an English teacher writing about education, politics, gender, technology, and culture, and the systems we pretend aren’t failing... Read along with my thoughts, rants, and observations about the tumultuous changes in our country leading to so many problems. But we can still have fun and laugh, at least I can…and do!!

Audrey Silverman has written a hybrid-memoir about these topics called Red Pens, Blue Screens: Three Decades with the Politics of Education and Technology. It will be released and available in April of 2026.
My story is a long road of decisions: the decision to abandon my musical career and go into teaching; the decision to create fair, fun, and positive environments in my classes rather than dwell on the negative; the decision to fight for my principles and beliefs in every circumstance; and the decision to promote my methods in product form.
My Teachers Pay Teachers online store is essentially the first true business endeavor I’ve attempted. It means a lot to me because I’m convinced it can help all teachers—especially new ones—gain success and perspective in a challenging career path that isn’t always as comfortable as it should be.
I attended high school in Miami, Florida, and college in Gainesville, Florida. I earned a Master’s Degree in English Education, received National Board Certification in Adolescent and Young Adulthood Language Arts, and was voted Best Debate Coach in Dade County in the 2000s.

Audrey S is a teacher, tutor, musician, and artist. After teaching, 9th grade to 12th grade English, coaching Speech and Debate, and creating a Humanities program at a high school in Miami, FL, she now lives in Palm Beach County, FL and teaches online as well as adult language acquisition live in Boca Raton. She is also the lead guitarist in a band called Vision Board. In addition, I’ve taught both guitar lessons and adult band classes at the School of Rock.
Here is my Teachers Pay Teachers store that has both free and paid products that will help develop a positive English classroom atmosphere.
